From Palermo to Fribourg
Antonello Messina is an Italian and Swiss painter, sculptor and musician.
He was born in Palermo on July 24th, 1969, and in January 2019 he became a citizen of the Swiss city of Fribourg. As a child he showed remarkable talent for visual arts (painting, drawing), as well as exceptional musical gifts. He started studying piano, solfeggio and music theory as a self-taught at the age of ten. He subsequently complemented these studies with harmony and composition. He graduated from the "II Liceo Artistico" of Palermo in 1989, and attended painting classes in the Academy of Arts of the same town. He subsequently completed his artistic training with a complementary year in the "I Liceo Artistico E. Catalano" in the years 1994-1995. His love for drawing, painting and history of art naturally led him to approach the artistic and literary milieux of his town and region.Along with his path as a painter, Antonello Messina pursued his career as a highly esteemed musician. These two means of expression have blended to create a lifelong journey of exploration: while concerts and music tours have led him all over the country, he has been called to create paintings and sculptures on commission: clay, chalk, ceramics and reproductions of paintings of all epochs (the study of human anatomy drawing techniques being of fundamental value in this period). All the techniques he learned to master have gradually left place to the artist’s preferred means of expression: oil painting. Between 1996 and 1999 he specialised in restoration works and reproductions; during this time he further refined his techniques in reproduction, by means of materials like distemper for Renaissance’s works, and acrylic colours, synthetic enamel and oils for contemporary works. His paintings’ exhibition in march 2000 on the occasion of the World Exhibit at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York, where he presented both original works and reproductions, is a very significant stage of his artistic career. In october 2011 Exhibition of paintings and drawings in Japan. Tatebayashi City - "L'autre Maison - Nishi No Hora", Ashikaga City - "Citizens'Hall", Tokyo - "Promise Servise Plaza", Tokyo - "Japan Art Gallery". In july 2013 Exhibition of paintings in Switzerland. Marly - "Plexus Art Gallery". June 2016: he appears in the video clip "Democratic Set" in the Belluard International Festival in Fribourg introducing his project "Le visage des Bolzes". Between June and October 2017 personal exhibition at the Château Salavaux, and in December of the same year personal exhibition at Espace 25 in Fribourg. Between November 2019 and January 2020 Antonello held an important solo exhibition in the historic Schadau Castle in Thun. Starting from January 8th 2022 until April 30th, Antonello's paintings will once again be exhibited in Fribourg at the historic Kellerpoche Theater, a personal selection of views and landscapes of the city.
Antonello Messina est un peintre, sculpteur et musicien italo-suisse. Il est né à Palerme le 24 juillet 1969 et en janvier 2019, il est devenu citoyen de la ville de Fribourg. Depuis son plus jeune âge il montre un talent artistique certain, qui se manifeste dans le dessin et la musique. Il entreprend en autodidacte l'étude du piano, du solfège et de la théorie musicale. À ces premières études il intègre ensuite celle de l'harmonie et de la composition. La passion pour le dessin, la peinture, l'histoire de l'art l'amène à fréquenter les milieux culturels et artistiques de sa ville. En 1989 il obtient le diplôme de fin d'études auprès du Collège Artistique II de Palerme. En 1990 il s'inscrit à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Palerme, où il fréquente les cours de peinture. En 1994-1995 il complète sa formation par une année intégrative auprès du Collège Artistique I "E. Catalano" de Palerme. Pendant ces années, le parcours de peintre et celui de musicien se croisent régulièrement: tournées musicales, expositions et projets artistiques s'alternent. Le plâtre, l'argile, la céramique sont parmi ses matériaux de sculpture, et pour les reproductions de chefs d'oeuvre de peinture de toutes les époques l'étude du dessin de l'anatomie humaine se révèle fondamental. Toutes les techniques apprises se fondent pour donner vie au moyen d'expression le plus aimé par cet artiste: la peinture à huile. Entre 1996 et 1999 il s'occupe de restauration et poursuit son activité de reproduction, en affinant sa technique au moyen de la détrempe (pour les oeuvres de la Renaissance), ainsi que des plus modernes couleurs acrilyques, de l'émail synthétique et des huiles (pour les oeuvres contemporaines). En l'an 2000, Antonello Messina expose ses oeuvres
originales et ses reproductions à New York, lors de l'Expo mondiale au Jacob K. Javits Center. Il s'agit là d'une expérience fondamentale dans sa carrière artistique. En octobre 2011 il expose ses peintures et dessins au Japon: Tatebayashi City - L'autre Maison - Nishi No Hora, Ashikaga City, "Citizens'Hall", Tokyo "Promise Service Plaza", Tokyo - "Japan Art Gallery". En juillet 2013 il expose en Suisse, à la Plexus Art Gallery de Marly. En juin 2016, il partecipe au Belluard International Festival de Fribourg en présentant son projet "Le visage des Bolzes" dans le clip vidéo collectif "Democratic Set". Entre juin et octobre 2017 exposition personnelle au Château Salavaux, et en décembre de la même année exposition personnelle à l'Espace 25 à Fribourg. Entre novembre 2019 et janvier 2020, Antonello a organisé une importante exposition individuelle dans le château historique de Schadau à Thun.

Im Alter von zehn Jahren begann er als Autodidakt mit dem Klavierspielen, beschäftigte sich mit Solfège und Musiktheorie; später ergänzte er seine Studien mit Harmonielehre und Komposition. Seine Liebe zur Zeichnung, Malerei und Kunstgeschichte führte ihn in die Kreise von Künstlern und Literaten. 1989 erlangte er die allgemeine Hochschulreife, mit dem Schwerpunkt im Fach Kunst, am "Liceo Artistico" in Palermo. 1990 begann er sein Studium an der Kunstakademie Palermo im Fachbereich Malerei. Im Studienjahr 1994/1995 beendete er sein Aufbaustudium am "Liceo Artistico E. Catalano". Parallel zu seiner künstlerischen Karriere forcierte Antonello Messina seine Karriere als renommierter Musiker. Er ging auf Konzertreisen in Europa: gleichzeitig schuf er eine Reihe von Kunstwerken im Auftrag: Lehm, Kreide, Keramik und Reproduktionen von Gemälden aller Epochen (während dieser Periode waren das Studium der menschlichen Anatomie und der Zeichnung von grundlegender Wichtigkeit für ihn). Mit der Zeit kristallisierte sich die Ölmalerei zu seiner Lieblingstechnik heraus. Zwischen 1996 und 1999 spezialisierte er sich auf Restaurierungen und Reproduktionen; während dieser Zeit verfeinerte er seine Technik bei der Herstellung von Reproduktionen, mit Temperafarben für Reproduktionen von Renaissance-Gemälden sowie Acrylfarben, synthetischem Lack und Öl für Reproduktionen zeitgenössischer Arbeiten. Im März 2000 nahm er an der New York Welt-Expo teil, wo er ausgesuchte Reproduktionen sowie eigene Arbeiten präsentierte, was einen wichtigen Schritt in seiner künstlerischen Laufbahn markierte. Antonello Messina ist mit seinem Projekt "Les Visages des Bolzes" im Clip Video "The Democratic Set " des Festival Belluard Bollwerk International Fribourg vom Juni 2016 vertreten. Zwischen Juni und Oktober 2017 persönliche Ausstellung im Château Salavaux und im Dezember desselben Jahres persönliche Ausstellung im Espace 25 in Fribourg. Zwischen November 2019 und Januar 2020 zeigte Antonello eine wichtige Einzelausstellung im historischen Schloss Schadau in Thun.
Antonello Messina è pittore, scultore e musicista italo svizzero. Nasce a Palermo il 24 Luglio del 1969, e nel gennaio del 2019 diventa cittadino della città Friburgo. Sin dalla più tenera età mostra spiccate doti artistiche (per il disegno e per la musica); queste lo porteranno ad intraprendere a soli 10 anni (da autodidatta) lo studio del pianoforte, del solfeggio e della teoria musicale. A questi primi studi integrerà, in seguito, armonia e composizione. L'amore per il disegno, la pittura, la storia dell'arte lo inducono a frequentare gli ambienti artistici e letterari.Nell'anno 1989 consegue il diploma di Maturità Artistica presso il II Liceo Artistico di Palermo. Nel 1990 si iscrive presso l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo, dove frequenta il corso di Pittura. Nell'anno accademico 1994-1995 completa il corso integrativo presso il I Liceo Artistico E. Catalano. In questi anni risulta sempre più difficile conciliare i diversi appuntamenti tra pittura e musica; cominciano tournée, lavori e commissioni artistiche: creta, gesso, ceramica, riproduzioni d'arte di tutte le epoche (fondamentale risulta lo studio del disegno e dell'anatomia umana). Queste tecniche confluiranno in quello che poi diverrà il mezzo d'espressione preferito dallartista: la pittura ad olio. Negli anni 1996-1999 si occupa di restauro e riproduzioni; in questo periodo affinerà la propria tecnica di riproduzione di opere d’arte, con l’ausilio delle tempere (per le opere rinascimentali) e i moderni colori acrilici, smalti sintetici e oli (per le opere contemporanee). Di straordinaria importanza per l’artista la mostra a New York nel marzo del 2000 presso l’Expo Mondiale del Jacob K. Javits Center, con una personale esposizione di opere proprie e riproduzioni. Nell'ottobre 2011 analogamente ad una tournée musicale Antonello Messina espone in Giappone con una mostra personale di pittura e disegni. Esposizione a: Tatebayashi City - "L'autre Maison - Nishi No Hora", Ashikaga City - "Citizens' Hall", Tokyo - "Promise Service Plaza", Tokyo - "Japan Art Gallery".
A settembre del 2012 inaugura la sua galleria privata a Friburgo in Svizzera.
Nel luglio 2013 mostra di pittura in Svizzera: Marly - "Plexus Art Gallery".
Nel giugno 2016 con il progetto "Le visage des Bolzes" partecipa al Belluard International Festival di Friburgo
con il video collettivo "Democratic Set". Tra giugno ed ottobre 2017 esposizione personale allo Château Salavaux, ed a Dicembre dello stesso anno esposizione personale all'Espace 25 di Friburgo. Tra il Novembre 2019 e Gennaio 2020 Antonello realizza un importante mostra personale nello storico castello Schadau di Thun.

院にて修学する。彼の美術政策とその歴史に対する深い情熱は、地域で注目されるものとなった。画家であると同時に彼は音楽家として活躍している。 この二つの表現は一生を通して彼が追及する道である。 ミュ-ジシャンとして各地を飛び回る中、方々で絵画や彫刻の制作(粘土、チョ-ク、ケラミック、模写制作）を依頼される。多様の経験と技術を得たアントネロ はその後油画に重点を置くようになる。
