Synchordion

Synchordion

Synchordion is not an accordion, nor a synthesizer: it's a sound vector. Unlike electronic accordions (which still have bellows), dynamics and volume are controlled using pedals; to these features, I've also added the ability to modulate the intonation of notes (pitch bending). I personally constructed the sounds by working on specific frequencies and physical models: these can then be controlled directly through the instrument thanks to a Musictech MIDI interface. Many thanks to Claudio Sabbatini for the MIDI implementation, and to luthier Stefano Oggero for the valuable and timely work of restoring, overhauling, and radically modifying the instrument. Heartfelt thanks also to my friend Werther Mussoni for donating the body of this Galanti, dating back to 1949, which we "adapted" to build this new instrument, and also to Alessandro Casalini for our long conversations and his friendly advice. The Synchordion is not a production instrument, there is only a prototype, designed by me, to give the right timbre to my ideas, and to my music.
